The Suit- a high quality suit does not require extensive care, but it does need regular maintenance. After a long day it will be as exhausted as its wearer and in dire need of at least one day off in an airy location. First brush with natural hair bristles, and check for stains. Initially you can try to remedy this by spot cleaning the area using household agents; this way you may be able to avoid dry cleaning, which tends to abrade the fabric. If possible, send the suit to the cleaner’s once a year only. Next, the suit should be hung on a wide, ergonomically shaped hanger. Steaming is the only option for removing heavy creasing. Either use a stream cleaner or simply hang the suit in a steam filled shower cubicle for several minutes. This only smoothes the fabric- it will also moisturize the wool fibers and maintain their elasticity. If the trousers still need to be pressed, a cool iron and dampened cotton cloth inserted between the trousers and the iron will help protect the suit. The cloth will also prevent the shiny patches sometimes produced during pressing.

Shirt- ideally shirts should be kept buttoned up on the hangers inside the closet. If you need to store your shirts in a pile, stack them in alternating directions to protect the collars. To achieve the best results, a shirt should be slightly dampened using a spray bottle half an hour before pressing.

Tie- storing your ties rolled rather than hung up will substantially extend their useful life. To maintain a tie’s shape, the knot should be open carefully after wear and the tie lifted rather than pulled off the neck. Please note that ironing a tie is daunting procedure- and one better entrusted to experts.
